ONE VISION OF THE WORLD

one vision of the world
is me staying inside and
not talking to anyone

TWO AND A HALF THINGS I’VE DONE TODAY AND
ONE THING I HAVEN’T DONE IN A WHILE

i’ve done two and a half loads of laundry today
i haven’t done any illicit drugs
in a while


QUESTIONABLE SEXIST

imagine mark wahlberg
playing classical piano
is that sexist


THE INHERENT BEAUTY OF WORDS

i don’t want to read words
i want to read songs and films and thoughts
i don’t think about the inherent beauty of words


CHAMPAGNE

pretty much every time
i’ve ever drank champagne
i’ve been hungover


THEY DO AND THEY DON’T

you do things you think will make you better
you don’t know which does what
they do and they don’t


A JOB

i have a job that
is basically worthless
besides the fact that it gives me money


INCREASED APPETITE FOR READING

i wonder whether my increased appetite
for reading will have any ‘positive effect’ on my life
before i thought no but now i think yes


AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD

i want to eat ‘authentic’ mexican food
and then be forced to keep eating it until
i never want to eat anything ever again


BEING WHO YOU ARE

how do you feel about being
afraid to stop being
who you are


A SIGN OF INTELLIGENCE BUT ALSO STUPIDITY

thinking you are the smartest person in the world and
thinking you are the dumbest person in the world is
a sign of intelligence but also stupidity

how easily we

yearlong period of rain
followed by yearlong period of sunshine
i wonder how that would affect skin


NO CORRELATION

are successful people more
or less inclined to bite their nails
or is there is no correlation


INCOMPETENT THINKING

one can really get to thinking
about levels of incompetence
but then all you're doing is thinking


PRE-DRUGS

do you know it’s not real
do you like how it feels
and is there ever enough


GOOD EAR

i’ve never known the notes
to your heart's song
but i know how it goes


COBRA KITE

it would be a
terrifying thought to some
if snakes could fly


POST-DRUGS

you know it’s not real
you like how it feels
and there’s never enough


SHADE OF BLUE

there is a shade of blue
that i keep in my heart
the same color as your eyes


LIGHTER SHADE OF BLUE

there is a lighter shade of blue
that sleeps in my nervous system
the same color as your fingernails


ANGEL ASLEEP

she was angel asleep
when i finished
my story


I PROBABLY WOULD BE FINE WITH YOU BITING OFF ONE OF MY EARS

she gnashes her teeth at me
her big dough eyes cancel
the ferocity

how could something
so beautiful be this
close to me


OH WOW GREAT

trying to think as objectively as
possible will reveal the betrayal
i’m coming over but don’t wait for me

the children

MEDITATIVE GIFTS OF GRATEFULNESS

in every
numbered breath
a prayer


TWENTY REASONS TO FEEL HAPPY

gold then silver then bronze then stone
erect the superstructure of
my soul


INFINITY EXPANDING CASTLES

my soul lives
inside the big bang of
infinity expanding castles


FINITE SET OF CONTRACTING CASTLES

my soul dies
outside the black hole of
a finite set of contracting castles


TIME SPONGE

heightened urgency
wrings waste out of
the time sponge


TERRIBLE SPONGE

i will succeed
to banish that
terrible sponge


THAT DARK HALLWAY BETWEEN
POVERTY AND PROSPERITY

how many capitalists
does it take to screw
in a lightbulb


THE MOST INTELLIGENT THING
I CAN SAY ABOUT MARXISM

i don’t know
anything about
marxism
